Inconvenience of Articles
I dislike Articles.
I'm rather inept in using Articles. I'm sure everybody has noticed so far.
There is no rule, and I don't have the sense of choosing correct articles.
Does Persian have the same problem as English in articles? Nothing would happen if the Englishmen eliminate these tiny useless words.

icles are torturous means of english aimed at foreigners :-) don' upset yrself they ain't that important :-)
guess Persian articles are much easier :-)

Is that the problem with a, the? Yeah, I know... That sucks :)) Many Iranians have difficulty with it.

Kimia, actually I hadn't noticed that you were having any trouble with those tiny confusing articles. That might be because I find myself impressed by your skill in writing, and think how lost I would be if I tried to write Farsi or Persian (and I don't even know--are those two different languages? You see how ignorant I am!). Every language has its pitfalls for the new learner though. When I first started learning French and Spanish the whole concept of gendered nouns was hard to understand. (Plus lots else, believe me!)

Yes, I guess this is a common problem between Iranians. Just because we don't have this much articles.
Dear Javrena, I think Persian is the English word for Farsi. In our language we name it Farsi. I think the "Persian" word is going to be substitute with "Farsi" and "Iranian". Iranian for people living in Iran (Turkish, Persians,...), Farsi instead of the language. For example, we have a lot of Turkish people in Iran, and they don't assume themselves as Persians, neither do we ;) But they do speak Farsi.
:D you said something about genders in French. What would you do if your language even didn't have gender for pronouns? We have no gender in Persian and I even mix “She and He” all the time: D New language is confusing but you know it would be better if we had at least the same root.

That is so interesting--that there is no gender in Persian (and thank you for explaining Farsi, Persian, Iranian to me--my ignorance sometimes is amazing). In English, during the 1970's, a lot of people involved in the women's movement started trying out different, inclusive pronouns and adjectives in English (in American English, anyway)because they didn't like it that "He" and "him" and "man" were often used meaning "everyone". There have been some changes (in politically correct circles we talk of chairpeople (not chairmen) and firefighters (not firemen) but the pronouns never quite caught on.
Probably if we went back thousands and thousands and thousands of years we'd have the same roots to all our languages. Now it is challenging--but also really interesting.
